H. von Gimborn was founded in 1855 by Heinrich von Gimborn in Emmerich am Rhein, Germany, initially as a pharmaceutical manufacturer whose early products included ink. It became a well-known German ink maker before the company shifted its focus to pet care products in the second half of the 20th century.
