United States Founded — 11 pens

18111 is the pen label of Yoshi Nakama, a one-person maker working in Brooklyn, New York, who turned to pen making after a background in large-scale fabrication. Pens are made in small batches, mostly from cast Alumilite resin (ebonite on request), and are noted for decorated caps and barrels produced by laser-engraving patterns and filling them with iridescent powder, a technique the maker describes as a modernised chinkin. The standard nib is a JoWo steel unit, with 14k or 18k gold available by request; output is limited and pens are sold directly rather than through retailers.
