Conway Stewart was founded in London in 1905 by Frank Jarvis and Thomas Garner and became one of Britain's best-known fountain pen makers, using hard rubber and later colourful celluloid and casein. The original company wound up in 1975; the name was revived in the 1990s and, after a 2014 receivership, is now held by Bespoke British Pens, with pens hand-assembled in Emsworth, England. Current production is high-end, using marbled acrylic, celluloid and sterling silver with 18ct gold nibs, typically priced from about £400 upward.
